first post :)

hey everyone!

i'm still working on getting used to this thing, so excuse the appearance. i think i still have time before people will start checking up on this blog, so hopefully it looks cool by then.

just a little bit about why i wanted to have this blog - as many of you know, i'm away from home yet again this year, except this time i'm heading a little south instead of going up to boston! i did graduate from BC, and i'm still pretty depressed about it - i made wonderful friends and had plenty of unforgettable experiences, but after 4 years it was time to say goodbye :(

next year i'll be serving full-time with the jesuit volunteer corps in philadelphia, volunteering directly with bethesda project, inc., a spiritual community that provides housing and support for formerly homeless men and women. i'll be living in a house with 6 other volunteers, and as an intentional community we will be focusing on the values of social justice, simple living, and spirituality - and have a ton of fun while we're at it :)   i can't wait to get there! i'm leaving for orientation on august 11th, but between now and then i'll try to keep this blog updated with information and stories from my past volunteer experiences with Appalachia and with Arrupe, and more info about what i'll be doing in the coming year.
